Pupils get to experience a variety of activities spanning from Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA) such as Orienteering and Teambuilding through to the more traditional sports such as Basketball, Cricket, Rounders and Swimming.

Pupils study a variety of sports on a half termly basis. This enables pupils to experience new sports as well as enhancing previous knowledge and understanding of other sports. The amount of sports on offer creates opportunities for the PE curriculum to be flexible and creative to adapt to the pupils needs and abilities.

The Year 11's get entered into the AQA Entry Level where they have the opportunity to achieve a Level 1, 2 or 3 qualification. Additionally to this there is the opportunity for pupils to obtain AQA Unit Awards in specific sports.

A small group of pupils are selected to take part and work alongside Mrs. Thomas in the Sky Sports Project. This involves a sporting athlete who has represented their Country and many international events and competitions coming into the school to talk and share experiences. The staff, athlete and pupils then work collaboratively to achieve and overcome personal challenges. Athletes that the school have had visits from in the past include Hannah Beharry (Boxer), Pete Waterfield (Diver), Aaron Phipps (Wheelchair Rugby) and Alex Danson (Hockey player).

As well as taking part in activities within the school setting, pupils have the opportunity to participate in sports festivals outside of school. These events vary in sports and activities and all pupils at St Anthony’s School will have the opportunity to take part in one of the festivals during their time here. Pupils will also compete within numerous Level 1 School Games Competitions with the Winners progressing forwards to represent the school at Level 2 competitions.

Each year the PE department arranges two sports days. One focuses on participation - Fun Sports Day and the other on competition - Traditional Sports Day. Both events are a highlight the in school’s annual calendar.
