Year 10 visit one of the shelters every christmas as part of their wealth and poverty RE module. The pupils learn about some of the reasons people become homeless and the services that Stone Pillow offer to homeless people.
Year 9 visit Chithurst Monastery as part of their experiential learning about Buddhist daily life and beliefs.
On this visit pupil are able to talk to a Buddhist monk to see how the Buddha influences his life and what the daily routines are for them as a community. They can observe a Buddhist food blessing with chanting and see a special cabin in the woods used for meditation and thought plus a circular shrine that the monks use at full moon to give blessings.
