  • Willow, Birch, Yew, Beech, Hawthorn and Sycamore Classes

    The Junior Department consists of six class bases and a Woodland Wonders Room.  There is an accessible toilet and a quiet space.  Two of the class bases have outside play areas.  There is usually a pupil ratio of  adult: 4 pupils as sessions are taught in small groups or on an individual basis.

    All pupils access playtimes where there are bikes, trikes, go-karts, quiet seating areas, hard standing, soft grass area and a multi-use games area.

    The pupils follow a broad and balanced curriculum that incorporates academic subjects and topic based learning.  The focus is on social skills; hands on learning; promoting independence; a holistic approach to Speech & Language Therapy; Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

    The pupils follow an individualised curriculum as necessary which is modified and differentiated to cater for their SEND.

    Other methods also used within the Department include TEACHH; Little group; social stories; visual methods; Team Teach

    Pupils also access specialist environments across the school including the computer suite; music room; drama hall; library; sports hall and swimming pool; DMP and Multi Sensory Room.
