Dear Parents and Carers,

You may have seen in the news yesterday, that schools will be required to be on call for six days after the last day of term to be available to track and trace should we have any COVID cases after school closes for Christmas.

Essentially this means that we will need to be on call until Christmas Eve. The government have indicated that schools can take an Inset day from our allocated days and finish on Thursday 17th December which would mean that we would be on call until 23rd December.

We have made the decision that we will be moving our Inset Day from Friday 30th April to next Friday and the last day in school for pupils will be on Thursday 17th December.

This means that if schools finish teaching on 17th December, no COVID contact tracing will be expected of school staff after 23rd December.

The guidance says that, where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. In this instance, parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

For the first six days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school has been asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious while they were in school. Should you need to contact the school to inform us of a positive COVID test, then you should email myself at up until 23rd December. The timetable that was sent to parents last week will also remain up until Thursday 17th December which highlighted the groups that will NOT BE IN school on the following

We will still be able to do all the activities planned for the last week, and an updated schedule is below:

Monday 14th December
Pupils in the Primary Department will have a Christmas Magic Show and visit by Father Christmas – both done virtually.

Tuesday 15th December

Primary Department Christmas Lunch

Thursday 17th December (Last Day of Term)

Secondary Department Christmas Lunch
Christmas Jumper Day (please bring in a £1 donation for Save the Children).
Christmas Tombola – These will be taking place in the school bubbles and will be £1
which will go the Parents and Friends.

Christmas Raffle
– With Parents and Friends, we will be running a small raffle. A ticket will cost £1 and tickets can be bought on the day and the raffle will be drawn at the end of the day.
I understand and accept that this gives fairly short notice, but I have endeavoured to
inform parents as soon as possible following the government announcement yesterday
and I would like to offer my sincere thanks for your continued support.

Best wishes

Helen Ball
