Computing
Using the student logins at the front of their planners you will be able access a wide range of programming and coding resources for Computing.
Different Sections:
- 2Code: in this area there are a series of differentiated challenges for students that will enable them to develop their coding skills. All students should be familiar with this area from their lessons in school. They progress in level of difficulty from Chimp to Gibbon.

2Type: This area will enable students to practice their touch typing skills and gradually become more confident in their typing.
- 2DIY: This area has a number of simple and easily explained Games and Activities that enable students engage in logical thinking.
- Online Safety: There are a range of activities that students can look and work through that help them to develop further understanding of being safe whilst working, communicating and playing online.

Topic: Exploring Pitch and Tonic Sol-fa. During the first term I will:
- Explore pitch
- Identify Major/Minor music
- Use Tonic Sol-fa
- Perform melodies and accompaniments on tuned instruments.
Topic: Performing Together. During the second term I will:
- Learn about the blues scale
- Sing and accompany a song based on the blues scales (Cops and Robbers)
- Improvise and compose using a blues scale
- Play a bass line
- Look at the structure of songs

Science Year
This term Year 8 will be studying the topic “Invertebrates”. Invertebrates are animals without backbones/vertebrae. September is a good time for studying invertebrates before they disappear for the winter.
Pupils will carry out a scientific survey on the invertebrates around the school premises and their benefits to the Ecosystem. In addition, pupils will explore the invertebrates in their garden.
